Can you cash out a Lowe's gift card?

Hello, all! In a couple of weeks I will be renovating and furnishing a new house. I plan to use my boyfriend's Lowe's card for 24 months 0% financing on a huge purchase. I had previously thought I would do the 84 months at 5.99% or whatever it is, but now I am thinking I should use the 24 month deal and then do a balance transfer to another card if I don't have it paid off at the end of the promo period. I have never done a balance transfer before, but I usually have offers on my Discover It for them.

My question is, can I transfer the balance from his Lowe's card to one of my cards if I decide to do it this way? Is there any trouble transferring a balance from a store card to a major or from his account to a card owned by me? Thanks in advance for your replies!

Did you find out how to cash out your Amex gift card? I’m also trying to figure it out.

How can I cash out my amex gift card?

I recently won a 1000$ gift card from a overbooked delta flight. I would like to cash it out somehow but I am really struggling. I tried using it via PayPal but PayPal is not working. Venmo won't take it. I tried to buy visa gift cards but the Walmart won't allow me to buy Visa cards on "credit" just struggling.. any tips?

Just use it for the bills you have?

BTW the airline is supposed to offer you cash (personally I'd take a check. Mobile deposit on phone is easier VS carrying cash). Next time you're bumped Google the laws.

You're entitled to cash by law when you're involuntarily bumped. In this case OP volunteered to be placed on a later flight in exchange for what the airline offered according to its policy.

Yeah that's what I am trying to do but I can't really pay rent with the gift card. Its a mother in law rent situation. And nah man all the offered was gift cards basically I volunteered my seat for a 3 hour layover for a 1000$ amex card..

I've done it with visa based cards through paypal.

Make a burner or use an alternate email and invoice it from your main account.

You pay the fee, but you get the bulk of the money deposited right into a checking account.

Ended up finding a Walmart location that would accept my Amex card to buy Visa cards.. so Amex gc > visa gc > money order > cash..

Lost about 10 bucks in the process but sooo worth it.

Did you find out how to cash out your Amex gift card? I’m also trying to figure it out.

Hey! So the cheapest way and quickest is to go to a Walmart and buy 2 or however many Visa gift cards you need with your Amex gift card. Look for one that says debit in the front and says will have a pin (usually the last 4 digits on the card) then immediately go over to the money center and get a money order with those debit cards. Note some Walmart’s have had fraud and don’t allow the Amex gift cards to go through. I found it best to just act like it is a normal credit card and debit card when it came to visa gift card. They don’t need to know they are gift cards as they will be running on credit or debit. Cost me 10$ to cash out 1000$! So worth it! Shoutout to delta!

How many times have you tried to return something without a receipt? Or perhaps the product has been opened or used and the only available return option customer service will give you is store credit; This instead of the cash you actually desire. Store credit, also known as merchandise credit cards, are almost the same thing as merchant gift cards except some stores do not accept redemption online. However, store credit from many stores like Pottery Barn, Sears, and JCPenney CAN be redeemed online.

If you consider yourself stuck and unsatisfied with that store credit, there is a viable option for you to convert it into cash.

Your lender sets their own requirements when it comes to deciding who qualifies for a refinance. Some of the most common cash-out refinancing requirements include:

How Much Cash Can You Get On A Refinance?

The amount you earn on your refinance typically depends on your home's value. Before finding out how much you qualify for, you'll need to have your home appraised. In general, lenders will let you draw out no more than 80% of your home's value, but this can vary from lender to lender and may depend on your specific circumstances.

One big exception to the 80% rule is VA loans, which let you take out up to the full amount of your existing equity. Rocket Mortgage® allows you to take out the full amount if you have a median FICO® Score of 680 or higher. Other lenders may have different policies.

Raise is an e-commerce app that launched back in 2013 to help consumers save money and earn rewards. One of the ways they do that is by purchasing unwanted gift cards.

You can sell gift cards quickly and easily through Raise, and one of the nice things about this platform is that they give you an idea of how much your card will sell for before you list it. For example, I searched Target gift cards, and Raise said current Target listings have anywhere from a 0.10% to 0.20% discount.

That means Target gift cards sell really close to their actual value on Raise.

I also looked up PetCo. gift cards to give you an idea of the different valuations, and PetCo. cards typically go for about 5% less than their full value. The variation in value isn’t uncommon, because it’s based on demand.

You’ll need to create a free account on Raise to start listing your gift cards for sale, and you are required to enter the serial number, pin (if applicable), current balance, and selling price.

You maintain control over your listing, so you can lower the price after a few days if it’s not selling. You can even unlist your card if you want.

Raise charges a 15% seller fee, but that’s only when your gift card sells. There’s also a 1% or $2.75 fee (whichever is greater) for selling physical gift cards. Raise pays you via PayPal or ACH deposit, both of which are free payment options. You can request a physical check, but there’s a $30 fee for that — I’d avoid that if possible.

Today, I tested one of the most popular apps in the World called Luck Money!

Conclusion

You have to be very lucky to win any significant prize with the Luck Money app.

Also, consider yourself lucky if you manage to reach the minimum payout threshold and cash out $10.

I am saying this because many people complain about getting stuck somewhere between $8 and $9.70.

They are claiming that you can never reach $10 and get paid.

Even though the app is free, you will waste a significant amount of time running videos on your device.

But as you can see, there is no guarantee that you will make any money!

On the other hand, developers are making guaranteed profits from advertisers.

Honestly, I don’t think it’s fair trade!

That being said, I don’t recommend the Lucky Money app for people who are serious about making money online.

Walmart Will Trade You for Other Merchants' Gift Cards

Don't worry if you don't like some of the gift cards you receive this Christmas. The AP reports that Walmart will trade store credit for gift cards from more than 200 different retailers, restaurants, and airlines.

Beginning on Christmas day, shoppers can trade in any eligible gift card for a Walmart gift card of similar value. How much you get depends on what kind of card you're trading in. An Amazon card will fetch 95% of its value, a Gap card will be worth 85%, and some cards will be matched with just 70% of their original value. The exchange program is being done in partnership with CardCash, the largest platform for buying and selling gift cards. Walmart says this exchange is a test but could be made permanent if there is heavy demand.

To exchange their gift cards, shoppers don't even need to leave the house. Walmart's card exchange website, Walmart.CardCash.com, lets users input their gift card's information, and a Walmart gift card will be emailed to them once the original card's balance is verified.

The motivation for Walmart's gift exchange is probably to increase store traffic, but there are many reasons retailers love getting their gift cards into the hands of shoppers. As Money's Kara Brandeisky points out, shoppers are likely to overspend when given what seems like fake money. In addition, researchers have found that consumers buy items they don't need when they use a stored-value certificate; the CEB TowerGroup consultancy has found that 65% of gift card users spend 38% more than the face value of the card.

The CEB also reported that customers tend to forget about their gift cards and don't spend the full balance, resulting in more than $1 billion in unused store credit this year alone. But that appears to be less true in the case of Walmart: A company spokesperson told the AP that 95% of Walmart holiday gift cards are usually redeemed by February.

I had one where you can call the number on the back and can find out your PIN# for the card and I was able to go to an ATM and get cash out. I think it was like $4.99 Fee to do so but worked.

What do I do with prepaid Visa gift cards?

It's a good problem to have, but I've won some competitions at work and have about $2500 in Visa prepaid gift cards. What can I do to get them into my bank account? Venmo? Square? PayPal?

go to a grocery store and buy money orders with them

Hmmmm, I'm about to go to Walmart. Might as well ask to see what happens.

They are designed not to be convertible to cash or deposited in a cash account. What you have locked up in there is supermarket and dining-out money for the next 9-12 months or so. I always pass them when paying bigger ($100+) tabs at the supermarket or liquor warehouse store.

It's just a pain when they have $100 balances. So. Many. Cards. They started calling me Mr plastic.

I use them for amazon gift cards for myself. You can get one in almost any value and you can use it like real cash without having to keep the card around to remember to use it. It also never expires.

He already has gift cards, what's the point of changing format?

Depends on brand and issuing bank on whether you can easily convert them into cash.

I'd just use them to pay the bills you usually pay online. utilities, phone, whichever takes credit/debit cards.

You can add to your Amazon wallet. You can buy stuff online. You can buy stuff where they accept credit cards. You can buy gas for your car. If you have the PIN, you can buy money orders at Wal*Mart (sometimes, when CSRs aren't being dicks). There are places where you can buy something and then return it and they give you cash, but YMMV. I did this once at Lowes where I bought 2 things, knowing one would be right and one wouldn't and was surprised they gave me cash on the one I returned.

I used to use Google Wallet to transfer them because there was no fee. I don't know if that's still true though; I haven't done it since 2014.

No longer able to

Wouldn't I need to put in a PIN?

There is a way but it's a little cumbersome and costs a little money. Basically create an extra paypal account, where you will register each card. Make sure to have your main paypal set up with the bank account you want your money sent to. Send money from your new account to your main, using the send feature. There is a 2.9% +0.30 cents charge for each time you send and you need to adjust the amount so it empties the whole card. Example. $50 vanilla visa card, you can only send $48.25 since the extra $1.75 covers the transaction cost. Once you do that you can repeat with all the other cards.

I've tried Venmo but you can't register the card due to it not having a zip-code. I tried adding a zip-code on the pre-paid card site (vanilla visa) and it never recognized it for Venmo (worked for a gas station though).
